Causeway Lake
CAUSEWAY LAKE is a unique water, fed directly from the River Gipping via a feeder stream which runs around the Perch Pit and into the lake. Recent re-stocking has transformed this water and it holds stunning carp to 40lb+, 25lb plus pike, double figure bream and tench plus a large head of silvers. This water holds the society’s largest specimens with the fish using the unique waters to grow quickly.
The Causeway Lake is accessible from Great Blakenham (see map) and has deep gullies, shallow gravel bars and lilies dotted all over. What looks on the surface as just an open expanse of water from above is anything but from below. It is both a Summer and Winter-time venue. It contains most species of fish with a very large head of bream and tench as well as the carp.
In summer the weed can be a nuisance and put some people off, but for those who take the time to plumb correctly, and find the clear patches, they can get rewarded. This is not an easy water but work put in locating fish can easily produce stunning specimens.
This is another complex owned by the Society having been purchased for the members in 2025
