Two rods permitted all year round.

Firearms

Members must not bring or carry firearms of any description on any Society fishery unless prior written authorisation has been granted by the Secretary or an appointed representative. Authorisation will only be given where satisfactory evidence of appropriate third-party liability insurance has been provided.

Dogs

Members may only bring a dog onto Society waters after completing and signing the official Dog Disclaimer Form (available when joining or from the Secretary).

Dogs must:

• Be microchipped.
• Be covered by suitable third-party liability insurance.
• Remain under control at all times.

The Committee reserves the right to withdraw permission for any member to bring a dog onto Society waters.

Owners must clean up and remove all dog fouling immediately.

Litter

Members must leave their peg or swim completely free of litter.

Any member found:

• Leaving litter,
• Fishing from a peg containing litter without first removing it, or
• Breaching these rules,

may be required to appear before the Committee and may face disciplinary action.

Complaints & Disciplinary Matters

Complaints from members will only be considered if submitted in writing by email or letter and signed by the complainant.

Any member required to attend a Committee hearing must do so at a mutually agreed time. Failure to attend without good reason may result in the matter being heard in their absence. The Committee’s decision shall be final.

Fish Management

The unauthorised tagging or marking of fish is strictly prohibited.

No fish may be introduced to or removed from any G.A.P.S. water unless approved as part of a fishery management programme by both the Executive Committee and the Environment Agency.

All fishery management matters must be dealt with through the Executive Committee.

Predator Fishing

Live baiting is strictly prohibited.

Only the following are permitted:

• Dead sea baits
• Vacuum-packed blast-frozen coarse deadbaits
• Artificial lures

Night Fishing

Night fishing is available only with a valid Night Permit and payment of the appropriate annual fee.

• Night permits will not be issued to Junior Members.
• Junior Members may only fish at night when directly supervised by an Adult Member.
• The supervising adult must fish from the same peg, using part of the permitted rod allowance.

Night fishing is defined as one hour after sunset until one hour before sunrise.

The number of Night Permits may be limited and will be issued at the Committee’s discretion.

Fish Care

Fish must not be retained in keepnets for more than 6 hours.

Only approved keepnets may be used.

Carp and specimen fish:

• Must be retained for the shortest possible time.
• Must never be retained overnight.
• Must only be held in approved carp sacks or retainers.

Specimen anglers must use a suitably sized, well-padded unhooking mat.

During periods of warm weather, fish retention times should be kept to an absolute minimum.

Match Fishing

No fishing is permitted after sunset on the evening before a scheduled match, or on the day of a match until it has finished.

If pegs remain available after the match draw, the Match Secretary may release them for general fishing.

Members found fishing waters reserved for club events may be subject to disciplinary action, including expulsion.

Fishery Emergencies

Any pollution, fish distress, disease or fish mortality must be reported immediately to a Society Officer.

If no officer is available, contact the Environment Agency Incident Hotline:

Please provide your name and contact number when reporting an incident.

General Fishery Rules

Unattended Rods

Members must not leave the immediate vicinity of their peg or swim while lines remain in the water.

If leaving the peg, all lines must be removed from the water and hooks unbaited.

Pre-baiting

Pre-baiting is not permitted on any G.A.P.S. fishery.

Media Enquiries

Members are not authorised to contact the press, media or publish statements relating to Society business without prior approval from the Secretary.

Bloodworm & Joker

Bloodworm and Joker baits are prohibited on all G.A.P.S. waters between 1 April and 30 September (inclusive).

Vehicles

Members using vehicles on Society property do so entirely at their own risk.

Liability

Members and authorised visitors enter and use all G.A.P.S. fisheries entirely at their own risk.

The Society accepts no responsibility for:

• Personal injury
• Death
• Loss or damage to personal property

All members and visitors are bound by these rules.

Fires

No fires are permitted.

Responsible use of BBQs is allowed only where there is no fire risk and no damage is caused to the ground or surrounding area.

Fish Transfers

No fish may be introduced to or removed from any Society fishery.

The only exception is the use of permitted dead sea baits or vacuum-packed blast-frozen coarse deadbaits.

Banks & Vegetation

Members must not damage banks, trees, shrubs or other vegetation unless specifically authorised by the Committee.

Fishing Pegs

Fishing is permitted only from designated numbered pegs where provided.

Members must comply with all temporary notices and must not fish from closed or reserved pegs.

Guests

Unauthorised guests are not permitted on Society fisheries.

Public Footpaths

Fishing equipment must not obstruct any public footpath.

Baited Hooks

Baited hooks must never be left unattended where they could be taken by dogs, wildlife or livestock.

Officials

Committee Members, Bailiffs and authorised G.A.P.S. Officials have the authority to:

• Inspect memberships and equipment.
• Require members to leave a venue following a rule breach.
• Require members to attend a Committee hearing.

The decision of authorised officials is final.

Conduct

Members are expected to behave courteously and respectfully towards fellow members, officials and members of the public at all times.

Temporary Closures

Waters may be temporarily closed for:

• Fish spawning.
• Fish welfare.
• Flooding.
• Essential maintenance.
• Health and safety.
• Landowner requirements.

Members must comply with all temporary closures.

Biosecurity

Do not bring wet nets, slings, retainers or unhooking mats onto any G.A.P.S. fishery.

Wet equipment spreads fish diseases.

Members may be required to wait until equipment is completely dry before fishing or may be refused permission to fish.

Rod Supervision

Rods must never be left unattended.

Tree Climbing

Tree climbing is strictly prohibited.

Wading

Wading is only permitted to safely net or release a fish directly in front of your peg.

A second responsible adult must be present.

Wading for the purpose of placing bait or rigs is strictly prohibited.

The Committee does not recommend wading. Anyone choosing to wade does so entirely at their own risk.

Drones

The use of drones on any G.A.P.S. fishery is prohibited unless prior permission has been granted by the Committee.

Bait Boats

Bait boats is prohibited unless prior permission has been granted by the Committee.
